Got it covered

When I go to location houses for magazine shoots I can’t help but covet the beautiful, and often intriguing styles that the owners create in their homes. Something that caught my eye recently was some bamboo print wallpaper set off with a Venetian-glass-framed mirror.

Using an eye-catching paper on one wall is a simple way to dramatically change the look of a room, but the trend is no longer limited to bold, colourful florals. Try being more adventurous with more unusual patterns and themes. Top of my most-wanted list is thornback & peel’s Jelly and Cake print. It’s eclectic, quirky and fun, so it could work equally well in a traditional kitchen, children’s bedroom or feminine boudoir.

And for the environmentally conscious, Graham & Brown has launched a range of eco wallpapers. They are printed with water-based, non-toxic inks, on paper produced from sustainably sourced wood. Even the packaging is biodegradable!

This Bittern Feather design was created by Jo Angell for Graham & Brown as part of its Central St Martin’s college collection. The Bittern’s habitat is threatened by global warming, and only 50 pairs of the birds remain, so the design and its eco-credentials make a fitting combination.
